One of the biggest mistakes I see homeowners make is spending money on repairs before talking to a real estate professional.
I’ve met people who spent thousands replacing flooring, remodeling kitchens, painting every room, or installing a new roof because they thought they had to.
Sometimes those improvements increase the value.
But many times…they don’t.
Every neighborhood and every buyer is different. In some cases, buyers would rather choose their own flooring or update the home to fit their style. That means you may never get back what you spent.
Before investing thousands of dollars, have someone look at the property and give you an honest opinion.
As a local real estate broker and investor, I look at homes from both perspectives. Sometimes I’ll tell a homeowner that a few inexpensive improvements could put significantly more money in their pocket. Other times, I’ll recommend selling the property as-is because the repairs simply aren’t worth the investment.
There isn’t a one-size-fits-all answer.
The best first step is getting the right advice before spending a dime.
If you’ve been thinking about selling your home and aren’t sure whether to repair it, list it, or sell it as-is, I’d be happy to walk through your options with you.
No pressure. Just honest advice so you can make the best decision for your situation.
